Just another quick tip on using the dynamic duo for monitoring parent communication... create a Parent Communication Log form. This is a form for when an email just isn't going to cut it. We've all made those phone calls... the "I have really awesome news and I wanted to call" phone call or the "I don't really want to say this in email" phone call. Either way, it's nice to keep track of these conversations.
Here's an example of the log that I created when it's all complete....
Here's what I love about this tool:
- With the Kustomnote App, also available on Android, it's easy to fill out the note right on your tablet or phone while you are talking to parents.
- Your new note, neatly formatted, will arrive directly in the child's Documentation folder in Evernote automatically.
- By creating a checkbox field in my form, I can select the student directly in the form- this saves just a bit of typing. It also adds a tag with the child's name to help keep track of information.
Then, just when you think it can't get any better... here's the most powerful part of this tool:
This simple little link is worth all of the time and effort. By creating a follow-up box in my note, I can add any notes to myself that are "actionable." You know what I mean, you call to discuss a specific incident, behavior, assignment, etc... then it leads to something else. You promise to send home a copy of a paper, document, etc.
This little tool will send you an email reminder to follow-up on the task. So, when I fill out a note, I can add the information in the follow-up section and send a reminder to myself in two days... It's just one more way to stay organized and on top of things.
Can I say again how wonderful this is?!? It certainly helps this little scatterbrain out :)
Have you set up a Kustomnote account yet? Are you using it in your classroom?
Leave it in the comments!
